Nina Dobrev admits she had not read Stephen Chbosky’s wildly popular novel “The Perks of Being a Wallflower” before the movie script made its way to her.
“A lot of people thought I was crazy,” the Bulgarian-born beauty tells us in the video interview above. “A lot of my close friends have been personally touched and affected by the book so they were really excited that I was going to be in the movie.”
Dobrev – best known for her supernatural work in The CW’s beloved series “The Vampire Diaries” – plays Candace, the older sister to Logan Lerman’s tormented Charlie in the buzzed-about screen adaptation of the bestseller (her character didn’t actually have a first name in the book).
Now that the actress is making her mark on the big screen – she’s also appeared in “Chloe” and “The Roommate” – could a “Vampire Diaries” movie be far behind? Dobrev doesn’t think so.
“I always feel like you have to end on a good note, and you have to tell the story as long as there’s a story to tell,” she says. “I feel like they’ve got it all mapped out for the amount of time we’re going to do it, which is six years. And if it goes any longer than that, we’ll start losing quality.”
