Nina Dobrev Celebrates Youth by Co-Hosting ‘We Day’ with Joe Jonas

Nina Dobrev is taking time off from being hunted by vampires and taking part in a charity event helping youth celebrate their positive actions in making difference in their communities and around the world.

Next Tuesday, Sept. 27, ‘The Vampire Diaries’ star will co-host ‘We Day’ in Toronto, Canada with Joe Jonas. The two stars will lead 18,000 student leaders through a day of speeches and performances from Nobel Peace Laureates, world-renowned social activists, Golden Globe, Grammy and JUNO Award winners. Jonas will also perform his hit, ‘See No More.’

We Day is an initiative of Free the Children, the world’s largest network of children helping children through education. It aims to “free children from poverty and exploitation and free young people from the notion that they are powerless to affect positive change in the world.” Dobrev is an ambassador and spoke at the inaugural We Day in 2007.

We Day unites young people to show them they are not alone in their journey to make a difference. It brings to light some of the most important social issues and helps adolescents find their place to create global change.

Since the first We Day in 2007, over 160,000 people will have attended the event. In addition, since the 2010/2011 school year, young people have volunteered more than 1.7 million hours of their time, raised $5.4 million in donations and collected more than 519,000 lbs. of food for food banks.

If you want to help, all it takes is a visit to We Day’s Facebook page and one click on the ‘Like’ button. You don’t even have to make a donation, one ‘Like’ equals $1; sponsors will make the donation.

On Sunday, Oct. 30 at 7/8c and 10/11c, We Day will air on MuchMusic. It will also stream live online so you don’t have to wait!
